Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), led by it’s leader, Ben Nunoo Mensah, has extended its warmest congratulations to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the President elect, on his victory in the 2024 presidential elections held on December 7, 2024.
H.E. John Dramani Mahama, made a historic comeback with an overwhelming victory over his closest contender Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party with over 1.6 million of the total vote cast.
However, in a formal statement from the GOC and signed by it’s president, commended the President-Elect, for his longstanding commitment to youth empowerment and sports development during his last reign as president.
The statement further lauded the affable leader for his Resilience. Character, Strength and Selflessness as a true reflection for his remarkable ascendancy to the throne. “Your remarkable comeback is a testament of your strength, character, resilience, selfless leadership as well as the overwhelming trust and confidence the Ghanaian people have in your vision for our nation.”
The letter reiterated president Mahama’s commitment to youth empowerment, sports development and promotion and his desire of creating the enabling environment that attracts sports investments. “The GOC recognises your longstanding commitment to youth empowerment, sports development and promotion, as well as the creation of an enabling environment to attract sports investment.”
The GOC therefore, assured His Excellency John Mahama, of its support and cooperation during his reign as president to help advance the government’s policies on youth and sports development.
President Mahama, will be sworn into office on January 7, 2025 to implement his solid policies on sports.
