Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew, in a written statement has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Ghanaian football fans who showed up in their numbers to support the senior national football team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers played against Chad and Madagascar respectively.
Ghana in both games, defeated Chad 5-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium and travelled to Morocco to beat stubborn side Madagascar 3-0 to top Group I in a World Cup qualifiers to be co-hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico next year.
The Leicester City forward who is now the substantive captain for Black Stars played a pivotal role in both games. He scored and assisted in the 5-0 win against Chad and also provided all the assists that led to the 3-0 win over Madagascar.
However, few days after that inspiring and splendid performance from the stars, Jordan Ayew has showed leadership and appreciation by thanking Ghanaians for their support during the two games through a written statement that read, “To our incredible Ghanaian fans,
On behalf of my colleagues, I’d like to extend our sincerest gratitude for your unwavering support during our recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
Your infectious energy, passion, and loyalty inspire us, and we’re deeply honored to represent this great nation.
Although we faced challenges in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, we’re committed to turning things around and making you proud. We’re working diligently to enhance our game, ensuring we secure the necessary results in the remaining matches to qualify for the World Cup.
We appreciate your patience, understanding, and encouragement during these critical times. Your voices, messages, and presence at our matches fuel our determination to succeed.
We’re not giving up! We’re focused on the task ahead, and we’re confident that together, we can achieve our goal.
We’ll do everything in our power to make Ghana proud and bring joy to your hearts”. The statement ended.
Ghanaian football fans in recent past have expressed their disappointment in the performances of the Black Stars over their poor output in the last Afcon held in Cote d’Ivoire and the team’s failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be hosted in Morocco. The Black Stars based on that, have resolved to appease Ghanaians by qualifying for the World Cup.
