PRESIDENT OF GHANA ATHLETICS ASSOCIATION HONORED WITH THE TITLE ‘BEST LEADER OF THE YEAR’, BY CAA

President of the Ghana Athletics Association, Bawa Fuseini, has been awarded with the prestigious title, ‘Best Leader of the Year’ by the Confederation of African Athletics, (CAA). The recognition, is a testament of his hardwork and contributions to the development of athletics in Ghana and Africa as a whole.

The awards held over the weekend, brought together international athletes, coaches, and officials all over the world to celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions to the sport.

In March 2024, Ghana played a host to the 13th Africa Games, which saw the athletics events steal the show. The competitions were widely praised for its exceptional organization, attendance, and public enthusiasm. The University of Ghana sports stadium was always packed to it’s full capacity, creating an electric atmosphere reminiscent of major international sporting events. as Fuseini’s leadership played a pivotal role in this success, earning him the widespread acclaim.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Athletics has also granted the Ghana Athletics Association the privilege of hosting the 24th African Athletics Championships in 2026. This is a significant honor and a vote of confidence in Ghana’s ability to stage high-profile international athletics events.

However, Bawa’s award is a well-deserved recognition of his tireless efforts to promote athletics in Ghana and Africa. His leadership as the president of the Confederation of African Athletics Region 2, has been instrumental in raising the profile of African athletics, and his commitment to developing the sport that has inspired a new generation of athletes.
