Mohammed Salisu and Kudus Mohammed both set a new Ghana world record after Black Stars win over the South Korean’s in the 2022 FIFA world cup in Qatar.
Yesterday’s game was the first time Ghana as a country had scored three goals in a single match in the history of the FIFA World Cup.
A hard fought battle by the Black Stars secured them a 3-2 win over the Korean’s at the Education City Stadium in Qatar on Monday.
Ghana took the lead in the 24th minute when defender Mohammed Salisu shot home Jordan Ayew’s curling free-kick for Black Stars first goal after a long VAR check by the center referee.
Another beautiful curler from Jordan Ayew in the 34th minute by his right foot from the left side of the pitch found Mohammed Kudus who headed home the 2nd goal to double Black Stars lead.
However,South Korea came in strongly to equalize the two goals within 3 minutes with a hit back headers from Cho Gue-sung to pull parity.
The hopes of many Ghanaians that the Black Stars can reach the knockout stages of the world cup for the second conservative time was revived when Ghana took the lead once again through a Mohammed Kudus goal in the 68th minutes, becoming the first-ever Ghanaian player to score a brace at the World Cup in the history of the Black Stars.
Mohammed Salisu also added his name to the history books due to his goal. The goal makes him the first Ghanaian and only defender to have scored a goal for Ghana at any World Cup since the Black Stars made their debut appearance in 2006.
Black Stars will play their final group H’ game against Uruguay on Friday with either a win or a draw to see them through to the next stages of the competition.
