
Koulibally Coolly Send Senegal To Knock-Out Stage Of The World Cup

Senegal on Monday qualified to the knockout stages of the 2022 FIFA world cup in Qatar for the first time after 20 years of reaching that stage.
Kalidou Koulibaly’s master class sent the Teranga Lions into the round of 16 of the mundial for the second time in their history. They defeated Ecuador 2-1 in their final group A’ game played at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha-Qatar.
The hard fought victory meant Senegal finished second in Group A, setting up a last-16 meeting with Group B winners England on Sunday.
Ecuador and Brighton’s midfielder Moises Caicedo cancelled out a penalty goal scored by Watford and Senegalese star Ismaila Sarr before Chelsea defender Koulibaly’s volley in the final end of the game won it for their side.
The qualification yesterday sent millions of Senegalese football enthusiasts in Qatar and back home into wild jubilations through out the night for making history on the bigger football stage.
