
BOXING: PRESIDENT MAHAMA SET THE BUKOM BOXING ARENA ALIVE, AS HE GRACE’S THE ULTIMATE LEGACY BOXING NIGHT TO A CHARGED CROWD

President elect, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama on December, 22, 2024, showed his love for Boxing as he added colour to the Ultimate Legacy Boxing night organised by Legacy Rise Sports.
The Bukom Boxing Arena, was set to an electrifying mood all night long when H.E John Dramani Mahama, made a surprise entry into the arena to the admiration of a huge crowd of boxing fans present.
The unforgettable night of Boxing artistry and talent exhbited by Abu Kamoko aka Bukom Tilapia (son of renowned boxer Bukom Banku), Stanley Nyantekyi aka Ashanti Warrior, Olympic Champion Samuel Takyi, Musah Lawson aka Awoodade, Cann Neequaye and Kevin Carter all won their respective bouts in an impressive style.
Crowd puller, Ahmed Abdullah (with 8-0, 7KOs) dropped Sergeant Bawa of the Ghana Armed forces three times in a tough battle before stopping him in the seventh round.
Fans expectation for David Bawa Akankolin (4-1, 3KOs) was high but unfortunately he did not live up to expectation to the disappointment of his teaming supporters.
The Boxing Federation, on the night, made a special presentation to President Mahama, who lauded the leadership of the federation for the gesture and assured them of his readiness to support the Boxing federation to bring it back to its glory days. His Excellency also added that, his doors will be opened to all sporting disciplines as a contribution to help reset Ghana sports once again.
However, the CEO of Legacy Rise Sports, Sharaf Mahama thanked all invited guests and Boxing enthusiasts who attended the event. He gave a special appreciation to Ghana’s boxing legend and former WBC champion Prof. Azumah Nelson for his contribution to the boxing industry.
Other important personalities and sports icons who attended the Ultimate Legacy boxing night include, former IBF champion Joshua Clottey, Ayittey Powers, DSP retired Kofi Boakye, Agyemang Badu, Black Stars goalkeeper’s trainer Fatawu Dauda, Hon. John Dumelo, Hon. Kotey Ashie MP elect of Odododiodio.
Top music stars like Davido of Nigeria fame, Seffa, and many others performed to entertain the crowd.
The beautiful Bukom Boxing Arena was built and inaugurated by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, during his first term in office.
