After last Saturday’s shocking defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, coach Arne Slot’s side Liverpool came from a goal down to win convincingly over AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
Liverpool suffered a heartbreak defeat on Saturday, losing 1-0 at the hands of Forest in the Premier League. The Reds’ however, put behind the disappointing setback and came from a goal down to win 3-1 over AC Milan on Tuesday night.
An opening strike from Christian Pulisic gave Milan an early lead, before Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk flipped the coin before half-time, with Dominik Szoboszlai adding a beautiful third goal to seal all the three points.
Meanwhile in a post match interview, Arne Slot shared the feelings of his squad. “I think that was the positive thing,” he told the media.
“After losing on Saturday, which was quite a blow for us to be honest, and then to be 1-0 down after five minutes, and an early chance as well, although it was offside. You’re always wondering how the team reacts”.
He added, “I think we showed how good we can be on the ball. That’s what I said after the game, if you can play so good, it’s almost…maybe to use the word disgrace is too much, but it’s unbelievable that you lose to Forest at home if you can play this well today.”
The victory gives Liverpool all the three important point in the Champions League’s new-look league format. Slot’s men will this weekend host Bournemouth at Anfield in the Premier League.
