Southampton’s winger Kamaldeen Sulemana was lucky to have red card conceded in a game against Leicester City in the Sky Bet Championship overturned after a review was done on the referee’s decision taken at St Mary’s Stadium on September 15, 2023.
The Ghanaian international was shown a straight red card for a tackle on James Justin in the final moments, as his club-Southampton lost 4-1 at home to Leicester City in the Sky Bet Championship.
Kamaldeen was brought on after the first half break and looked promising with his pace and trickery in the Southampton’s attacking line until he was shown the red card by referee Bobby Madley in their Sky Bet Championship game against Leicester City at St. Mary’s Stadium.
The decision was confirmed by Southampton coach Russell Martin in a pre-match press conference, breathing a sigh of relief for fans ahead of their game against Ipswich Town.
He stated, “Jan Bednarek is back in the squad and we won our appeal with Kamaldeen, so Kamaldeen is in the squad which is good news,” Martin said.
Meanwhile, Southampton is 9th on the league table with 10 points after six games.
