Chelsea manager Graham Potter has finally been fired by Todd Boehly for his inconsistent performance in the English Premiership since his appointment in past six(6) month as coach of the club.
Potter was sacked some few hours ago as head coach following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.
Potter left Brighton and Hove Albion to take charge of the Blues after Thomas Tuchel’s was
relieved of his job last September, unfortunately, 47-year-old struggled to inspire consistency during his first season in charge as manager of the club.
Despite the huge spending by Chelsea in the transfer window with an estimated £289.7million on players including Enzo Fernandez, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile and others, Potter has struggled to lead the Blues to the top six of the league table to put the club in contention for European matches next season.
However, Saturday’s 0-2 home defeat to Aston Villa saw Unai Emery’s team leapfrog Chelsea into the top half of the table, with Potter leaving Chelsea in 11th place, 12 points adrift of the top four.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will welcome Liverpool in their next Premier League game on Tuesday before visiting Wolves on Saturday, after which they will travel to the Santiago Bernabeu for the first leg of the Champions League last-eight tie against holders Madrid.
