AFCON 2023: GROUP F’ FAVORITES MOROCCO, WIN’S OPENING GAME IN STYLE

Atlas Lion of Morocco opened their 2023 African Cup of Nations group F’ game with a convincing win over Tanzania in a stylish and dominance fashion to show their supremacy in group F.

Goals from Romain Saiss, Azz-Eddine Ounahi and Youssef En Nesyri saw Morocco won by 3-0 over Tanzania in a one-sided Nations cup opener.

It was former Wolves defender Saiss who striked first in the early stages of the game but, despite Morocco’s total dominance, they had to wait until a Tanzanian player was shown a red card late in the second half before finishing them off.

The 2022 world cup semi finalists started the game with their top Stars like PSG defender Achraf Hakimi, Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat and Chelsea loanee Hakim Ziyech while minnows Tanzania, who have never won any match at the Nations cup, could only boast of players like Tarryn Allarakhia of Wealdstone in attack.

Tanzanian’s Ibrahim Hamad’s foul on Ziyech gave the Chelsea winger, now on loan at Galatasaray, the chance to get the first shot on target for Morocco.

Ziyech’s fierce free-kick was beaten out by Tanzania goalkeeper Aishi Manula but Saiss followed up and buried the rebound into the net

The continuous threats caused by Ziyech, became incessant down the right, with in swings which saw En Nesyri headed over before forcing a decent near-post save from Manula.

At the latter part of the first half, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli blazed over from a tight angle as Tanzania somehow made it to the break only trailing by one.

Tanzania were however, pushing their luck with some physical challenges and a predictable second yellow card that was later flashed to Novatus Miroshi’s involvement in a tackle 20 minutes from time.

The Atlas lions, then doubled their lead when Ounahi played a slick one-two with substitute Amine Adli before he struck past goalkeeper Manula.

Moments later Ounahi crossed for Sevilla striker En Nesyri to score the third goal to ensure that Atlas Lions got off to a winning start in their 2023 African Cup of Nations tournament.
