ASTON VILLA STRENGTHENS’ IT MIDFIELD WITH THE SIGNING OF ONANA FROM EVERTON


English side Aston Villa has completed the signing of hard tackling midfielder, Amadou Onana as a means to strengthen their midfield options ahead of the new Premier League season.

The deal which worth £50 million was agreed on by both parties after a lenghty negotiation to make it possible to allow the player move from Everton to Aston Villa. 


Onana, who represented his country at the just ended Euro 2024, becomes Villa’s second-most expensive player in history after Moussa Diaby.

The Belgian, joins Aston Villa following a two-year spell at Everton, where he made 72 appearances under coach Frank Lampard and Sean Dyche.

The 22-year-old midfielder is Unai Emery’s eighth major signing heading into the 2024-2025 league season, as the manager aim to strengthen his squad in readiness to compete in the UEFA Champions League and other competitions.


However, Lewis Dobbin, Samuel IIing-Jnr, Ian Maatsen and Enzo Barrenechea, have all moved to Villa ahead of the season, while Jaden Philogene, Ross Barkley and Cameron Archer have rejoined the club.

Aston Villa will open their league season away to WestHam Utd on August 17 2024, and it is more likely that Onana could make his Villa debut in the new Premier League season.
