
WORLD CUP QUALIFIER: BLACK STARS TAKE BOLD STEP TO QUALIFY TO THE 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP BY DEFEATING MALI 1-2 IN BAMAKO

The senior national team, the Black Stars took a bold step to qualify to the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be hosted by Canada, USA and Mexico by shocking Mali in a dramatic win at Bamako.
The 2-1 victory over Mali on Matchday 3 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers away from home has brighten the chances of Ghana to qualify to the Mundial ahead of its competitors in Group I.
Jordan Ayew’s 94th minute goal gave Ghana the all important victory against tough opponent Mali at Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars touched down at the Nana Agyemang Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi at 1:15am Friday, via ASKY Airlines. The team will continue with their preparations for the next game against the Central African Republic, on Monday, June 10, 2024 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Black Stars were forced to dig deep for the victory after Kamory Doumbia gave Mali the lead in the 45th minute. Ghana’s winger, Ernest Nuamah leveled with a towering header in the 58th minute before Jordan Ayew combined with Leicester City’s in- form attacker Abdul Fatawu Issahaku to fire home the winning goal for Ghana in the 94th minute.
However, the Black Stars are levelled on points (6 each) with Group I leaders Comoros, who lost 1-2 to Madagascar away on Friday, June 7, 2024.
