Highly respected former football administrator Mr Kwesi Nyantekyi has described investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas as someone who is not at the ‘level of the devil yet’ but probably operates more than the devil itself.
This assertion was made by Mr Nyantekyi after Accra High Court yesterday dismissed a defamation suit filed by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, against the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central and NPP presidential hopeful Mr Kennedy Agyapong.
Speaking to the media after the landmark ruling on March 15 by His Lordship Justice Eric Baah, the former CAF vice said, “The High Courts decision testifies to the truth that Anas Aremeyaw Anas is not honest, but as described by the court, he is a Blackmailer and Extortionist”. He added, “Anas has been totally disgraced. He once portrayed himself as an Angel, but today, I’m not even sure he is at the Devil’s level yet”.
In a brief background to the suit filed by Anas in 2018, he (Anas) sort to seek a relief from the court by filing a defamation suit against the Assin Central MP, asking the Accra High Court to award an aggravated damages to the tune of GH¢25 million arising from defamatory materials published by Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
According to him (Anas), the MP had been publishing materials in his quest to discredit him. As at the period, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, had released an acclaimed investigative piece on Ghana football titled ‘Number 12’.
The ruling yesterday by the court, turns to exonerate the one time best football administrator Ghana has ever produced who was making the nation proud at the CAF and FIFA level with his astute leadership qualities but for the now described Extortionist (Anas) by the court, the sky would have been his limit.
