
2024 INTER-CITY “HOMOWO’ MARATHON COMES TO A SUCCESSFUL END AT TRUST SPORTS EMPORIUM IN BUKOM-ACCRA

Medivent Consult, organisers of the 2024 Inter-city ‘Homowo’ Marathon once again set the city alive with this year’s edition of the Marathon to the admiration of many.
The competition which took place on Saturday 28 September 2024 at exactly 7:00am at the Accra Sports Stadium and ended at Trust Sports Emporium-Bukom, saw many athletes both young and old taking part in the 5 kilometres and 21 kilometres marathon respectively.
The colourful event was organised with the support of the Ghana Police and the MTTD dispatch riders who led the athletes to controlled traffic on the road and also avoid possible injuries to the athletes.
However, the competition was categorized into five categories, that is; Male 5km race, Female 5km race, Male 21km race, Female 21km race and Boxers category.
Below are the results and prizes won by some of the athletes:
Women’s 5km Results;
1. Braimah Rabiatu – 17:49.31 (GH 3,000.00, gold medal, and sponsors’ products)
2. Asieduwaa Irene – 18:37.78 (GH 2,000.00, silver medal, and sponsors’ products)
3. Jessica Malmuo – 18:51.84 (GH 1,500.00, bronze medal, and sponsors’ products)
4. Ellen Boadi – 18:52.06 (GH 1,000.00, participation medal, and sponsors’ products)
5. Nafisah Alhassan – 18:56.28 (GH 500.00, participation medal, and sponsors’ products)
Men’s 5km Results;
1. Kwarteng Emmanuel – 15:33.28 (GH 3,000.00, gold medal, and sponsors’ products)
2. Ayisi Godfred – 15:39.66 (GH 2,000.00, silver medal, and sponsors’ products)
3. Joel Njefune – 15:57.94 (GH 1,500.00, bronze medal, and sponsors’ products)
4. Adoma Emmanuel – 16:01.44 (GH 500.00, participation medal, and sponsors’ products)
5. Tony Asibey – 16:01.94 (GH 500.00, participation medal, and sponsors’ products)
Women’s 21km Results;
1. Alimatu Iddrisu – 1:31:01.28 (GH 8,000.00, gold medal, and sponsors’ products)
2. Husna Umar Farouk – 1:59:04.63 (GH 4,000.00, silver medal, and sponsors’ products)
3. Mohammed Anatu – 2:02:26.47 (GH 3,000.00, bronze medal, and sponsors’ products)
4. Jessica Amankwaa – 3:05:01.56 (cash amount and products from sponsors)
Men’s 21km Results;
1. Wumboriche Noah – 1:13:10.97 (GH 8,000.00, gold medal, and sponsors’ products)
2. Korah James – 1:14:36.60 (GH 4,000.00, silver medal, and sponsors’ products)
3. Molan Yamputi – 1:14:37.91 (GH 3,000.00, bronze medal, and sponsors’ products)
4. Ebenezer Eduful – 1:17:37.25 (GH 2,000.00, a medal, and sponsors’ products)
5. Owusu Benjamin – 1:18:21.65 (GH 1,000.00, a medal, and sponsors’ products)
Meanwhile, special recognition was given to Kweku Oduro Preprah, a 70-year-old athlete and the youngest athletes who all received products from sponsors in recognition of their participation.
The 3rd edition of the marathon was sponsored by Serene Insurance, Verna Mineral Water, Indomie foods, GWO Sevo, Bethel Logistics, Decathlon Ghana, Luex, Nkomor health, UNICHEM, Parin Africa Ltd and Ethiopian Airlines
