Minister for Sports and Recreation Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams has expressed his excitement in the achievement of the Black Queens and further congratulated them for their impressive performance at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana’s Black Queens on July 19, 2025, triumphed over Algeria in a dramatic 4-2 penalty shootout at the Berkane Municipal Stadium in Morocco to book their spot in the WAFCON semi-finals.
The excited Minister after the the game in an interview said, “As Minister for Sports, I’m thrilled to congratulate our phenomenal Black Queens on their remarkable achievement. Their WAFCON semi-finals qualification is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and passion for football.
Under my leadership, I’ve witnessed the team’s transformation, and it’s heartening to see the narrative shifting, results showing, and belief rising among the team and fans. The Black Queens’ journey to the semis has been remarkable, and their determination to succeed is inspiring”.
Hon. Adams, continued, “I am proud to say that the Black Queens have made Ghana proud on the international stage. Their impressive performances are a source of pride for our nation, and I have no doubt that they will continue to inspire a new generation of young Ghanaian footballers.
As they take on the best teams in Africa, I want to assure them that they have the nation’s support. ‘Go for Gold, Ghana is behind you.
With their talent, dedication, and perseverance, I’m confident that the Black Queens will make their mark on the international stage and bring glory to our beloved Ghana”.
The Hon. Member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency called on the general public to rally support for the Queens as they hoist the flag of Ghana high in the nations Cup.
“My fellow football enthusiasts, I urge you to join me in rallying behind our incredible Black Queens! Let’s shower them with love, support, and encouragement as they take on the best of Africa. Together, we can achieve greatness and make Ghana proud! Let’s show them that we believe in them and that we’re behind them every step of the way. Let’s do this, Ghana! Let’s support our Black Queens and make our nation shine!” He concluded.
The Black Queens has however set the stage for a semi-final clash against host nation Morocco on Tuesday.
