In a bid to promote road safety and encourage healthy lifestyles, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) paid a courtesy call on the Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF) ahead of a comprehensive Road Safety Training Program.

The meeting, held at the GCF office in Accra, marked a significant step towards fostering a culture of safety, wellness, and environmental sustainability in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

The visit led by Madam Vivian Aborah, Acting Head of the Transport Department at STMA, the team expressed their commitment to reducing road accidents and promoting cycling as a mode of transportation and recreation.

The STMA Road Safety and Cycling Training Program, scheduled for October 30, 2025, aims to sensitize road users on safety practices, responsible cycling, and shared road culture.

However, the Ghana Cycling Federation welcomed the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of dedicated cycling lanes and road safety awareness. The Federation’s School Cycling Project, currently active in the Greater Accra Metropolis, will be extended to the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, nurturing young talent and instilling road safety awareness from an early age.

This initiative not only promotes healthy lifestyles but also contributes to environmental sustainability. As cycling remains a sport, a healthy means of transportation, and an environmentally friendly mode of mobility, the STMA calls on stakeholders, corporate partners, and the general public to support these initiatives is a good call for all to embrace.

Through this partnership, the STMA and GCF are working towards creating a safer, healthier, and more cycling-friendly environment in the metropolis.
By promoting road safety and cycling, the aim is to build a modern, safe, and sustainable transport system that meets the needs of all road users.
