Ex-Black Stars defender Frimpong Manso has ruled out Ghana from qualifying to the next stage of the ongoing CHAN tournament in Algeria unless miracle.
Black Galaxies suffered a 2-1 defeat to Madagascar in their opening game in the African Nations Championship in Constantine-Algeria.
Ghana conceded from two defensive blunders in both halves of the game. Augustine Agyapong pulled one goal back in the 68th minute to give the Galaxies a glimmer of hope of carrying the day but that could not materialize until the referee blew his final whistle.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, former Asante Kotoko legend and Ghana international Frimpong Manso described the lose as woeful and bad for Ghana football.
“I am not really surprise by the defeat of the Black Galaxies. The last time it was Comoros and this time it is Madagascar. Football has evolved in the past years and there’s nothing like underdog in this modernized era of football and all these countries are investing into football and the results are there to prove” – he stated.
According to Frimpong Manso, the Galaxies stand a little chance of qualifying from their group and making an impact judging from the shambolic opener against Madagascar.
“Sudan is one strong team with a lot of quality home based players with much experience. Look at how they flourish when they compete in the CAF inter club competitions. I would not say it is over for the Black Galaxies after the loss to Madagascar but I hope they can turn things around and come good in their subsequent matches” he added.
The defeat leaves the Black Galaxies at the bottom of Group C, which contains just three teams due to Morocco’s withdrawal from the tournament.
However, they will come against Sudan on Thursday and only a comfortable win for the Galaxies can see them through to the next stages of the competition.
