Barcelona’s Move For Amrabat Fail to Materialize on Transfer Day Deadline

Barcelona’s decision to sign on Sofian Amrabat on loan from Fiorentina has failed on transfer day deadline today.

The Catalans had reportedly been keen on bringing the Morocco international to the Camp Nou on loan with the option to buy at the end of his contract.

Barcelona had made an offer earlier on in the day but that was turned down by Fiorentina, after the midfielder had gone ahead with a tweet on his social media handle about his move.

As a result Amrabat was left out of Fiorentina squad for their Coppa Italia clash against Torino which had earlier fuelled speculation over his move. But the latest update from Fabrizio Romano suggests that the deal is dead.

On his twitter page today Fabrizio wrote, “Barcelona will not sign Sofyan Amrabat on #DeadlineDay. No way — Fiorentina will never accept option to buy clause, Barça can’t proceed with obligation or permanent deal” #FCB

Meanwhile the workaholic midfielder did everything possible to force through a move to the Catalans but it all happened too late and Fiorentina did not want to lose such a key player midway through the season.

It is likely that the Moroccan may be allowed to leave in the summer, but it remains to be seen if Barcelona will reignite their Interest in the player at the end of the season.
