Richard Kofi Akpokavie, the newly elected President of the Ghana Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Sports, Ghana, has etched his name in the annals of Ghanaian sports history.
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has honored Akpokavie for his outstanding contributions to African and global hockey, recognizing his dedication, expertise, and leadership in the sport.
The prestigious award, presented by FIH President Tayyab Ikram during a ceremony in Egypt, is a testament to Akpokavie’s tireless efforts in promoting hockey across the continent. As an International Hockey Official, Akpokavie serves on several FIH committees, contributing to the development of global hockey.
Akpokavie’s achievement is a shining example of his impressive credentials. His appointment as a co-opted Executive Board Member of Africa Hockey demonstrates his leadership skills and commitment to advancing the sport in Africa. As President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, he has secured a strong mandate from his peers, garnering 44 votes out of 63 valid votes cast.
