The Madagascar Football Federation has quickly replaced it’s former national team coach Nicolas Dupuis ahead of their 2024 Afcon qualifier with Ghana in Antananarivo.
Dupuis resigned as head coach of the Madagascar national team some few weeks back sighting personal reasons.
In his stead, Rakotondrabe Romuald has been appointed by the country’s football federation as the new coach to lead the Madagascar national team ahead of their game against Ghana at Stade Kianja Barea in Antananarivo.
Romuald, having endeared himself to the football federation and the people of Madagascar as a good coach based on the performance of the local or CHAN team, having led them to the CHAN tournament in Algeria recently, was given the nod over other interested local and foreign coaches.
According to a statement which read, “The Malagasy Football Federation is pleased to announce the new coach to lead BAREA national team for our last two games in the AFCON qualifiers.”
“Rakotondrabe Romuald, a Malagasy technician who is unique among all, brought high national honor during the last CHAN. His experience and strategic vision are believed to inspire the national team to build a new foundation and strengthen our pursuit of success on the field.
The statement continued “Rakotondrabe Romuald Felix is ready to take on his role and work closely with the players, technical staff and supporters of the Malagasy national team. Together we will walk to success and do everything to reach the common goal.” The statement concluded.
Romuald’s major task is to qualify the national team to the African Cup of Nations to be hosted by Cote d’Ivoire in January 2024.
However. his immediate assignment is to lead BAREA play the Black Stars of Ghana in the Afcon qualifier on 18 June, 2023 in Antananarivo.
