Hon. Kobena Mensah Woyome, the immediate past Member of Parliament for South Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region and former Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture in the 8th Parliament, has been appointed by the Executive Board of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) as the Chairperson of its newly established Government Relations and Stakeholders Subcommittee.
The current GOC Board, led by President Richard Kofi Akpokavie Esq, created this maiden committee to fast-track, advise, and guide government policies on sports in line with the Ghana Olympic Committee’s development agenda, which aligns with the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
This appointment forms part of the broader committee structure approved by the Executive Board of the GOC.
In a letter dated 12th August 2025, signed by the Secretary General of the GOC, Mohammed Muniru Kassim, and copied to the GOC President, Hon. Woyome was congratulated on his appointment.
The letter further assured him of the Committee’s commitment to work together for the development of sports in Ghana to benefit millions of young athletes, coaches, and technical officials.
