Comoros, are gradually gaining grounds in African football with regards to the tactical n technical qualities they possess and their style of play.
As a shining example for other African countries, the Islanders have developed a fearless posture when they come up against top football Nations like Egypt, Nigeria, Morocco etc and Ghana has not been exception as they defeated the Black Stars 3-2 in the last AFCON hosted by Cameroon in 2021.
The Islanders have a solid team and have so far maintained six out of their eleven starters against Ghana during the last AFCON tournament in Cameroon. Six of these players recently started for the Southeastern African country in their 4-2 win over the Central African Republic in the World Cup qualifiers. Same players were part of the team who played a key role in Comoros 3-2 win over Ghana during the 2021 AFCON tournament.
Comparatively, Ghana had only Jordan Ayew in it’s squad when the Black Stars began it’s World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar last Friday in Kumasi. The Crystal Palace attacker was the only Ghanaian player who was in the starting lineup for Ghana during the shameful loss to Comoros in Cameroon, retained his place in the starting eleven for Ghana in their 1-0 win over Madagascar at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Despite playing just a game in the group qualifiers, Comoros have impressive scoring rate in Group I’ after scoring 4 times in the group opener against the Central African Republic.
They have conceded two goals in their opening fixture but both goals were an own-goals scored by Rodez defender Akim Abdallah and Hungary-based Younn Zahary.
Comoros are expected to give Ghana a tough game at home this evening as both sides come up against each other in a second Group I’ game qualifier.
