Three of Africa’s boxing representatives will all take to action today at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris-France.
The three(3) boxers who are going to be in the ring on July 29, 2024 are all from Algeria featuring in pre-quarters.
These boxers comprises of Africa’s lightweight champion Hedjila Khelif, two-time Africa gold medallist Jugurtha Ait Bekka and Africa silver and bronze medallist Mourad Kadi.
However, Hedjila Khelif will battle it out against Serbia’s Natalia Shadrina whilst Jugurtha Ait fights Cuba’s world silver medallist Erislandy Alvares at light-welterweight and super-heavyweight division.
On the other hand, Africa’s Silver and Bronze medalist, Mourad Kadi will test her might against four-time French champion and twice bronze medallist in the Mediterranean Games, Djamili-Dini Aboudou in bout which has been touted as going to be ‘fierce’ one.
Meanwhile, the performance of the continent’s contingents has not been convincing. So far five African boxers out of the 23, who qualified for the Paris Olympic Games have been eliminated, not to glance over the unfortunate news of Cynthia Ogunsemilore who has been suspended by the International Testing Agency for a doping offence but has since denied of any wrong doing.
