The Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Hon. Julius Debrah on Saturday 20th September, 2025 launched the Madina Chamber of Commerce and Madina Walks for Business as part of the larger government’s ambition to support startup businesses, women and young entrepreneurs in the country.
The early morning walk, started at Ritz Junction on the Madina-Adentan highway and ended at the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) office in Madina Social Welfare. The Walk pulled a huge crowd which included youngmen and women, some government officials, party and non-party faithfuls, entrepreneurs and market women participating in a brisk walk through the principal streets of Madina amid cheers from bystanders.
Some notable government officials that took part of the walk include, the Chief of Staff Hon. Julius Debrah, Minister for Sports and Recreation Hon. Kofi Adams, Director General of the National Sports Authority Mr Yaw Ampofo-Ankrah, the Member of Parliament for Madina and Abokobi Constituency Hon. Francis Xavier-Sosu, the head of YEA and many other government appointees.
However, speaking at the launch, Hon. Julius Debrah expressed the need to grow and support young entrepreneurs and women from the scratch as a long to medium term measure in developing private sector businesses in the country.
The former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority stated that, it has always been his desire to see businesses, and enterprises flourish as it contributes in the reduction of the unemployment rate in a country.
In line with that ambition, the Chief of Staff supported startup businesses, especially women led enterprises with a cash amount of GH500,000 cedis as seed capital to reinforce the government’s commitment of empowering women, startup businesses and young entrepreneurs as it falls in the larger vision of the John Dramani Mahama’s led government in enhancing private sector led businesses.
The walk was also used to officially commission the Madina Chamber of Commerce at the main market, where some government dignitaries met victims of the recent fire disaster to solidarize with them and a pledged of the government support.
Hon. Julius Debrah has over the years served in so many portfolios as part of his contribution to nation development and services to mankind. He was the chief of staff in the John Mahama’s first government, served as the CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority, former Greater Accra Regional Minister, former Eastern Regional Minister, former Minister for Local Government and Rural Development. He also served as the Eastern Regional Youth Organiser and Eastern Regional Chairman for the NDC.
