Black Stars of Ghana on Thursday suffered a painful 3-2 defeat to one of the tournaments favorite Portugal in a Group H’ game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Doha-Qatar.
Portugal started to dominate the game from blast of the whistle pushing Ghana to their own area for most part of the first half.
However, Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring for Portugal on the 65th-minute with a dubious penalty awarded that led to black stars players protest to the center referee but were ignored. But captain of the side Andre Ayew equalized for Ghana just Eight(8) after Ronaldo’s goal by beautifully connecting home a Mohammed Kudus low cross.
Meanwhile, that did not last when Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix broke the lines to add the second goal to restore the lead for Portugal. Rafael Leao on the other hand, worsened Ghana’s case few moment after when he netted home a classic goal to make it Three (3).
Ghana came back strongly to cancel the goals leaving Osman Bukari’s 89th-minute header to remain just a consolation 2nd goal for Ghana.
With results in the other Group H’ game ending in goalless draw between South Korea and Uruguay, Ghana have now dropped to the bottom of the table with 0 points.
