Chelsea co-owner Jonathan Goldstein has reiterated that, head coach Enzo Maresca, will remain with the club until the end of the season amidst public pressure.
Maresca who signed a five-year contract last season oversaw an excellent start in the early stages of the league which led to many predicting Chelsea as contenders for the Premier League title. Unfortunately, a slump in form has seen Chelsea winning just three games from the club’s last eleven(11) matches across all competitions.
However, with the growing number of Chelsea’s fans who are calling for the head of Maresca and voicing their frustrations towards the current miserable run of form and direction of the club, co-owner Goldstein has therefore revealed his stance on the future of Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge.
“He’s doing a great job,” Goldstein told the media. “Chelsea started the season very well. The last six weeks have been, you know, finding their feet a little bit more.
“But Enzo has clearly done a great job in bringing the team together, bringing the talent through. And we’re very optimistic for the rest of the season in how that plays out.”
Meanwhile, when queried about the future of Maresca, Goldstein, stated that, the former Leicester City manager has the “100%” backing of the club’s hierarchy.
With the current turn of event, Chelsea fans in recent weeks at Stamford Bridge have been heard chanting the name of former owner Roman Abramovich alongside banners calling for a change to the approach in running the club.
