Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has directed the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) led by Mr Kurt Okraku to do what it takes to bring back the dwindling local league back to life.
The Honourable Member of Parliament (MP) for the people of Buem Constituency said this when he hosted members of the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the various Regional Football Association (RFA) Chairmen at his office on Monday, 17, 2025.
The meeting held at the expense of the FA was meant to formally introduce the GFA Executive Council and the Regional Football Association members to the Sports Minister and to wish him well for assuming the office as sector minister.
However, during the meeting, Hon. Kofi Adams, seized the opportunity to congratulated Mr. Kurt Okraku on his election to the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as the sixth Ghanaian to rise to the level of Exco member at CAF. He therefore urged Kurt to let his position reflect in the development of football in Ghana.
The Minister urged the FA leadership to put measures and strategies in place to revive the local league through the revitalisation of colts football as well as strengthening grassroots football to enhance the development of the sport, stating clearly that, ‘leadership of the F.A must bring the league back to life’.
Hon, Adams noted that, his office is always opened and ready to collaborate with the association to provide the necessary support to enhance the development of football in the country.
Meanwhile, present at the meeting were some senior officials from the Ministry whiles the GFA were represented by the President Kurt Okraku and his Vice Mark Addo, the General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, Nana Oduro Sarfo, Eugene Noel Nobel, Samuel Aboabire, Patrick Akoto, Neil Amstrong Mortagbe and few others.
