Ayew, Others to Miss Ghana AFCON Return Game Against Angola

Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew has been ruled out in the return leg of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola on Monday.

The Nottingham Forest attacker was ruled out of the reverse fixture away to Angola, following a knee injury sustained after a recovery training on Friday in Kumasi.

Sources from the Ghana Football Association revealed that, the 33-year-old skipper suffered the injury after slipping on his way to the dressing room.

According to the GFA website monitored, it stated that, per the findings of an MRI scan, Andre Ayew will have to return to his club for further check and treatment, as a result, the player will not be joining the team for the return game against Angola scheduled for Monday in Luanda.

In a related development, Ghana will also miss out the services of defenders Denis Odoi, Alexander Djiku, and Mohammed Salisu who were excluded from the squad who travelled to Angola due to varied injuries to each player.

The Black Stars who defeated Angola 1-0 in Kumasi on Thursday, have since arrived in Luanda ahead of the reverse fixture on Monday 27th March, 2023 in Luanda.
