WestHam Utd are in serious talks with Ajax over Mohamed Kudus as a possible replacement for Lucas Paqueta as transfer day deadline nears.
Hammers are likely to lose Paqueta to the Premier League champions who have put in a new bid to get the player, see’s Kudus a perfect replacement for the Brazilian.
Manchester City made a verbal bid of £70 million for Paqueta last week but was turned down by WestHam, who have already lost Declan Rice to Arsenal this summer.
WestHam are aware of the 25-year old’s interest in moving to City, with personal terms not expected to be a problem with him. Although they would prefer he remains with WestHam, but sources to Precisewebgh has it that the club would find it difficult to refuse an enticing offer from City.
The London club are actively looking to strengthen their squad, and aware of Paqueta’s possible departure of the club have switched their attention to Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus as a player who have the qualities that best fit Paqueta in his absence.
Kudus who have been on the radar of WestHam since last week, have already initiated talks with the Dutch giants Ajax over a potential Premier League switch, though interest in the versatile Ghanaian player is high.
However, Brighton & Hove Albion agreed a club-record fee of £34.5 million with Ajax at the beginning of the month but the Ghanaian is unwilling to move to the AMEX Stadium, even though Brighton are competing in this season’s Europa League and have a proven track record of developing young players.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars player is expected to pocket decent wages at WestHam if he agrees to join. They also have Europa League football to offer the player- but it’s unclear at this point whether or not the Ghanaian would accept to make the move or prefer other options.
