In a statement issued on Saturday, read- “In commemorating 56 years of existence and vibrant membership, we are proud to say that, SWAG is a body of several hundreds of active members operating across the country, a testament to the visionary leaders and celebrated journalists who played instrumental roles in forming this great association in 1968”.
The statement however, paid a glowing tribute to patrons and former astute servants of the association in the name of Joe Aggrey, Willie Kwarteng, Yaw Boakye Ofori-Attah, Ben Eghan jnr, Kingsley Obeng, Nana Addo-Twum and Ken Bediako who have all laid a strong foundation in the past for the growth of the association.
In 56 years of existence and still counting as a mother body, the association has been at the forefront of developing and promoting sports in Ghana through the consistent honoring of sports excellence, effective sports journalism and dedicated service to it’s members and the sports community as a whole.
