Interim manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy has disclosed that, he hope to remain at Manchester United even after the appointment of Ruben Amorim as head coach of the club.
Van Nistelrooy put a stop to his own managerial ambitions at PSV Eindhoven to join United as an assistant to Erik ten Hag last season after the latter was sacked earlier this week.
The legendary player is expected to remain as temporal coach until the November international break, after which Amorim would have taken over as the new manager.
Until then, Van Nistelrooy is hopeful that Ruben Amorim will still find a role for him in his yet to be formed backroom staff.
In an interview, Nistelrooy said, “I came here as an assistant to help the club. Now in this role, I’m helping as long as needed,” Van Nistelrooy vowed. “In the future in any capacity, I’m here to help the club further to build towards the future. That’s what I’m here for.”
He continued: “I’m here to help and serve and give my everything for the club in any capacity with so many people here around me that want the best for the club and that will never change.”
Meanwhile, at his days at PSV, he won the Dutch Cup and Super Cup during his one season in charge as coach, before taking his talents back to Manchester United to join Ten Hag’s coaching staff.
Meanwhile, Amorim is set to take control and is expected to bring along three of his assistants from Sporting CP.
Van Nistelrooy won his first game in charge as head coach by defeating Leicester City 5-2 in the Carabao Cup.
