Man. City Claim First European Trophy After Years of Near Misses

Manchester City made history yesterday after winning their first European crown in several years of attenpts and completing the treble.

City beat Inter Milan 1-0 to win the Champions League, a trophy they have craved for so many years in the club’s history, and this only happened at the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul.

Rodri scored the only goal in a hard fought final in the 68th minute at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium to put City fans at the stadium and all over the world to a jubilant mood.

The premiership champions attacked their opponent from the blast of the referee’s whistle against a determined Inter side.

Inter Milan sat deep to soak up pressure from Guardiola’s men who were at some moment lacked their usual sparkle and exigence after Kevin De Bruyne’s first half injury, gave Inter a glimmer of hope to fight on.

The Italians begun to assert themselves into the game when Rodri broke the deadlock, driving from the edge of the goal area after a Bernardo Silva pass was deflected into his path.

A determined Inter side upped their game with Federico Dimarco hitting the bar and having another good chance before Romelu Lukaku was denied by Ederson in the dying moments of the game.

Saturday’s champions league glory for Manchester City did not happen on a silver platter but through a continuous efforts after arriving in three champions league semi-finals, and two finals over the past years.
