
CYCLING: MOROCCO SECURES GOLD, SILVER AND BRONZE IN STAGE ONE OF TOUR DU FASO

The first stage of the ongoing 35th Edition of Tour du Faso began on a hot note with North African side Morrocco sweeping all three prestigious medals- Gold,Silver and Bronze in stage one of the competition.
The Morrocans clocked similar time finish of 3hrs 2mins 5sec apiece to begin the quest to clinch the yellow jersey.
In total, 64 riders including 6 Ghanaians are participating in this year’s Tour du Faso.
Meanwhile, absent from the host nation’s squad is Paul Damont, the chap who won the ultimate jersey last year.
Three Ghanaian cyclists failed to finish stage 1 signifying the competitive nature of this year’s race.
However, Ghana’s promising rider, Isaac Illiasu gave a good account of himself in the first stage by clinching the Combativity jersey to the admiration of the crowd.
Stage 2 of the race resumes tomorrow from Koupela in a distance of 120.6 kilometres.
