Armwrestling Continue to Fly High as it Target Youth Development

The Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) led by its hardworking President Mr Charles Osei Asibey, continue to score high marks in the growth and development of Armwrestling in Ghana and beyond compared to most other least financed sports in the country as the Federation made yet another stride when it launched the 2nd edition of the HD+ Kids Armwrestling competitions at the GNAT Hall in Accra.

As one of it’s numerous yearly flagship programs launched on Monday, to usher in the 2023 ‘HD+ Kids Armwrestling Season2 competition, indicate why Armwrestling have to be given the needed support by government and corporate Ghana as a whole based on it’s well cut out programs organized yearly to unearthed talents.

Speaking to the media after the launch of the 2023 edition, President of Africa Armwrestling and World Vice Mr Charles Osei Asibey stated that, “We are doing (Armwrestling) five regions plus the finals. We are going to introduce the sports to over 15,000 High School students, I mean Junior High and Senior High. And for us introducing the sports to 15,000 youth, is a massive thing we have done as a federation.”

The maiden edition of the HD+ Kids Armwrestling last year saw only three regions competing, that is Western region, Ashanti and the Greater Accra region.
However, this year’s edition (Season2), will see the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Bono and Ahafo Regions, Eastern Region, Western Region, all included to increase the number of regions from the previous three to five as an admonishing to the work of the Federation to grow the sports in Ghana as the country stands to benefit in future.

Major sponsor, SES HD+ Ghana Limited, in partnership with the Ghana Armwrestling Federation sponsored the maiden edition of the competitions and have this year(Season2), increased the sponsorship package for all the competing pullers with the ultimate winner’s package increased from Gh2,500cedis from the previous edition to Gh3,000cedis.

The well and beautifully organized event was graced by prominent personalities in the sporting fraternity such as Mr Richard Akpokavi Esq., Mr Mawuko Afadzinu (Head of Marketing & Corporate Affairs, Stanbic), Mr Addo Agyekum (GAF Vice), Director of Finance from the Ministry of Youth & Sports, Top Executives from SES HD Plus Ghana Limited etc.
