49 COUNTRIES CONFIRM PARTICIPATION IN 13TH EDITION OF ALL AFRICAN GAMES-ACCRA 2023


A total of fourthy-Nine (49) countries have confirmed their participation ahead of the 13th edition of the All African Games scheduled to take place from March 8 to 23, 2024, in Ghana.

Out of this number, five countries who are members of the African Union are yet to confirm their participation for the games. These countries include, Sudan, Senegal, Cape Verde, Sao Tome and Principe and South Sudan.


Meanwhile, the following countries have so far confirmed their participation and they include; Togo, Chad, Niger, Algeria, Kenya, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Gabon, Liberia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Burundi, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea and the host country Ghana.

The rest are Zambia, Uganda, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Namibia, Mauritius, Seychelles, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Malawi, South Africa, and Rwanda.


However, countries who have confirmed their participation are required to submit list of all athletes and team data before the submission deadline day at 11:59 pm (local time) on February 25, 2024.

About 23 competitive sporting events namely swimming, weightlifting, armwrestling, football, basketball, athletics, badminton, cycling, and wrestling, among others will feature prominently in the All African Games and also serve as qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris for eight sporting disciplines.


Ghana has so far showed it’s readiness to host the rest of Africa for the first time by putting up a state of the art sports facility at Borteyman in Accra. With over 3,500 expected athletes, the event promises to bring the spirit of togetherness and celebration of sportsmanship among the participating African countries.
